The Employer Assisted Housing Program in Mississippi

The Employer Assisted Housing (EAH) Program makes homeownership easier for Mississippi employees by providing employers with tools for educating, counseling and sometimes funding their employees.

Improved retention, more effective recruitment and reduced training costs all result from an EAH benefit. By promoting employee homeownership through EAH, employers can increase productivity, improve morale and strengthen their bottom line.

EAH Benefit

An EAH benefit can provide employees with workshops and counseling on the journey to homeownership. Due to a 2008 bill, employers can offer an employee an additional benefit of up to $10,000 toward the purchase of a home (as a down payment or applied to closing costs) or up to $2,000 for rental assistance or rental security deposits. Employers must have a written plan to take advantage of these tax benefits.

Assistance with the EAH program

Mississippi REALTORS® in communities all over the state stand ready to assist employers through the EAH program. Our members can provide free workshops for employees, access to personalized homebuyer counseling and information on financial assistance for employers.

REALTOR® License Plate Supports Disaster Relief Fund

Show your REALTOR® pride and make a difference with a Mississippi REALTOR® license plate. They are available for purchase at your local tax collector’s office for an additional $31 fee. Proceeds from car tag sales support Mississippi REALTORS® Disaster Relief Fund. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Mississippi REALTORS® Disaster Relief Fund was designed to provide quick assistance to Mississippi families who sustained significant damage to their primary residences. To date, the Mississippi REALTORS® Disaster Relief Fund has helped more than 3,000 families.
