Pearl River County REALTOR® Rep. Mark Formby was recently appointed to the three-member Workers Compensation Commission by Gov. Phil Bryant.
The commission oversees and manages workers compensation insurance companies and claims.
In 1993, Formby, a former staffer with U.S. Sen. Trent Lott, obtained his real estate license and was elected state representative for Mississippi House District 108.
In 2002, he and a business partner opened Magnolia State Realty in Pearl River County, and in 2005 he established his own company, Formby Realty. He has been a REALTOR® and representative for the last 25 years.
The six-year appointment is a full-time job located in Jackson. Formby will vacate his state house seat and a special election will be held.
Formby will continue to oversee his realty company with a full-time broker managing the day-to-day activities.
Formby, 60, is married to Rita, his wife of 24 years. They have two children: Rebekah, 10, and Eli, 9.
