26 Feb Free Data Breach Monitoring Tool
If you’ve come here, you probably want to sign up for the free data breach monitoring tool I discussed in the Spring 2018 Leader Magazine. The steps below are nice and simple, and should be relatively easy to follow.
Enrolling in the HaveIBeenPwned Service
- First, you’ll want to visit https://haveibeenpwned.com
- Once the page has loaded, insert your email address, like this:
- Click the “pwned?” button to proceed, which will lead you to this screen (hopefully)
- If you see a red screen saying you’ve been pwned, don’t panic. Be sure that you’ve changed your password recently for any site that may be using that email address. It’s as simple as that.
- Your next step is to click the “Notify me when I get pwned”
- Verify that you are indeed not a robot, and then click the “notify me of pwnage” button to proceed
- You’ll be sent a verification email. Once received, open the email.
- Click the “Verify my email” button
- That’s it. The tool will notify you in the case that an account is ever compromised where you have used that email address.
