01 Jun Be prepared for hurricane season

Hurricane season officially runs from June 1 to November 30 each year. Homeowners, renters and business owners throughout Mississippi should prepare for the threat of hurricanes. Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and MS REALTORS® want you to be prepared.

Disaster supply kit
At the minimum, include a flashlight, batteries, cash, first aid supplies and a weather radio along with copies of critical personal information. A three-day supply of food and water for each person will make you even more prepared.

Know where to go
Have a plan in place before a storm approaches. Decide on a safe place where your family can ride out the storm or evacuate to.

Establish a communication plan
Work with family and friends to compile important personal information and contact information.
